ABOUT ME
Chris Nunes is an entertainment attorney representing music and film clients across the globe. Chris received his Bachelor's Degree in business economics from UCLA, where he made significant contacts in the entertainment industry. During the years between undergrad and law school, Chris was a corporate strategist for three start-up companies (including one successful IPO) during the dotcom boom in the San Francisco Bay Area. He then earned his law degree from Georgetown University in Washington D.C. where he was first an advocate and then a coach of the school’s prestigious Entertainment Law Moot Court team, as well as an integral staffer of the Washington Area Lawyers for the Arts. Chris worked for two entertainment law firms – one in Los Angeles and one in DC – while schooling in DC, and worked for an international German firm while schooling in Europe.
Among other projects, Chris is a co-founding Director of the International Short Film Association, which is dedicated to building ties between Financiers (venture capitalists, independent investors, content distributors), Creators (filmmakers, screenwriters, students, and artists), and Distributors (mobile telephony service providers, handset manufacturers, third-party content aggregators) of the short film format. Chris formerly advised the International Institute of Film Finance, which is forging unique relationships between Silicon Valley-based venture capital and prospective feature film investments. Chris is also the founder and president of Location:SF, a San Francisco-based grassroots organization dedicated to increasing support for local film production in San Francisco and the state of California. Prior to moving to Los Angeles, Chris acted as the Vice President of Business Affairs for GreenHouse Productions, an entertainment consulting and production company that helps artists to leverage their content across emerging media platforms. Upon moving to LA, Chris became a partner at a client company Crown Entertainment LLC, a film production and talent management shingle, where he oversaw business and legal affairs for the group of executive producers and talent & literary managers. As of August 2007, Chris maintains a fulltime solo law practice, serving clients in every aspect of the entertainment industry - from film to music to fashion to literature. His legal experience covers every transactional aspect of the entertainment business, including distribution, licensing, talent engagement, production financing, music distribution, music & literary publishing, photography & modelling, agency agreements, and on down the line.
